Stressed-Out Mom? How to Draw a Line in the “Work at Home” Sand So You Can Relax

One of the challenges to work at home is to separate work time from family time keeping our sanity. Sometimes it feels like there are last-minute things going on well, every minute.

In her post Stressed-Out Mom? How to Draw a Line in the “Work at Home” Sand So You Can Relax, Michelle Shaeffer gives practical tips to focus on one aspect of your life at a time.

What I like best in this post is the tips to let your family know that you are working. My "interrupt me only if the house is on fire" doesn't always work so I welcome new ideas and Michelle's are simple and realistic.

If you are stressing about organizing your time between your home business, your family and yourself, read this article: Stressed-Out Mom? How to Draw a Line in the “Work at Home” Sand So You Can Relax

Michelle Shaeffer is an experienced Work at Home Mom who started designing websites at age 13. Yes, that is thirteen. She is a young mom and leader who knows what she is talking about.

Blogging Secrets: How to find content for you blog whether you are a SAHM or a WAHM

Stay At Home Moms, Working Moms, Work At Home Moms, Full time Moms… We all have something to say. Many of us spend few to lots of hours blogging or reading blogs. In the next paragraphs I will give you a little secret to never run out of ideas for your content. I will also share a potential danger of it.

If you watched the videos of Ty Tribble (Top MLM blogger) in Blogging for Prospects, you already know two of his best Secrets to always have content.

I have one more secret: Google Alerts. This is a great source of information and inspiration to get you going in your own opinions about a given subject. You can also find good content to present to your followers.

Choose the topic you want to know about, like your niche. When you sign up, you receive daily updates of the most recent and interesting activity in the subject you chose.

So what is the danger of receiving Google Alerts? It doesn’t have anything to do with viruses or scams.

It has more to do with our inclination and love for debate.

I receive updates about WAHMs, SAHMs and other combinations. Many of the updates are Forums where a given question or specific subject is discussed. If you still don’t know, there is a permanent war going on between moms.

See what I mean: Don’t want to be a Stay At Home Mom?

Maybe you participate in some of them. The danger for me is to get caught in reading the discussions, have an urge to participate and telling myself to move on and go back to work!

I know: it’s not that big of a deal, huh?

I choose not to participate because my goal is to help moms who are working their home based business from home in the Industry of Network Marketing. What are we? How do we identify ourselves? That is probably a subject for discussion...

When I decided to give you a tip about finding content or sources to create your own, I also made the decision to mention that little danger. It’s very interesting to see how a simple question can trigger so many answers and I know there is more debate out there about hundreds of topics (I prefer the ones related to Online Network Marketing).

Use Google Alerts. Just don’t be too distracted with discussions that are not in your niche.

How do you find information for your content? Leave a comment about it!

Confessions of a Working from Home Mom

I've posted about Time Management for Network Marketing Moms before. I have insisted in the importance of working at least a little bit every day and focus on productive activities.

Well, I have to confess that I am not doing that. Shame on me! That is why in my last post I commented on how I like that basically anything you produce online stays there forever. I have worked every day before and now my content can generate me more leads time and again. But it is also important to keep the content fresh.

When we are Working from Home there are things that we can't control. I just gave up making a video for my blog after accepting that we need a new microphone. I have also accepted that these months I'm less productive because I am focusing on my guests (my mom and niece are visiting from Peru and staying with us until April).

As I get used to my new routine, I make an effort to stay connected and be honest with you. Success does not come without persistence. I will persist. I will work even when each day is not that productive.

I insist that Working from Home is a challenge when, like me, you are raising a family at the same time. We need to be patient. Sometimes that means accepting our limitations and keep working nevertheless. If you can't work every day, what about few hours a week? Maybe you can distribute the hours in slots of 20 minutes each time.

How do you face your daily challenges in building your business? I know you have something to confess too! Leave a comment about it!

Mom work: Got some Chritsmas Shopping done?

Tis the season to be jolly, holly, inspired and stressed... At least for me. Who said "me too?"... I don't even have to shop for that many people (and that many presents) but that Christmas Shopping takes a lot of time. And that is time I could be working on my business.

Yes, I have to confess, I'm taking time off my business to do some shopping. It's when I'm with my 2 year old (who is not going to tell anyone about their presents) and when I can get more done. And yes, it's the time when I neglect my business.

I was feeling unproductive and like I was losing sales. But then I read an article about How to Lose friends and Alienate people and it reminded me of WHY I am here.

I am here to help other Moms to find joy in their Home Based Business. I'm here to share what I learn, to show that I'm not perfect, to help other moms see that being a Stay At Home Mom Working from Home is a challenge that we can do. And sometimes that means taking the time to serve others. "Others" as in "our families", the most important people in our lives. I'm giving them a nice Christmas.

That comes with teaching my children to be responsible by taking time, at least weekly, to take care of my mom friends online. It comes with doing some Christmas Shopping, decorating the house, read more the Bible, go to Church, watch movies together, getting ready for the celebration of Giving, etc.

I'm giving myself to my family, friends, blog followers and the Online Community. Tis the season to give and do it jolly.

Are you neglecting your business? How do you keep the balance during this season? Leave a comment about it!

Stay At Home Mom Working from Home: How to be a successful WAHM Part 2

In the first part we talked about being organized and write down your goals. Other components to being a Successful WAHM are:

3. Set your goals, write them, keep them in sight. This will keep you motivated. There are days when we don’t want to do anything. But we must keep going. I look at my board with thoughts, phrases and dreams and I know where I’m walking towards. Honestly, it was easier to feel frustrated when I used only traditional methods in Network Marketing. Using Online Marketing allows you to be productive without having to check “Zero people contacted today”.

4. Have a mentor. This is crucial. Who can teach you what to do? If you are a Network Marketing Mom then you already have people ready to coach you. But you can also find coaches online, leaders who will be more than happy to help you or have great material for free.

5. Be patient. Usually a business needs few years to take off. You will always learn about people who did it in months or even weeks but do your best not to compare with them. There are many successful WAHMs out there. Learn from them but don’t compare. You can’t have what you envy. Your situation is unique, your frustrations are unique and your abilities and gifts are unique. Be patient with yourself. I know that I can do in one week what other people do in one day. But I’m patient. If I persist I will be victorious. And so do you.

Now it’s your turn. Add to this list. How can we be Successful WAHMs?

Stay At Home Mom Working from Home: How to be a successful WAHM Part 1

Being a Stay At Home Mom is a wonderful and beautiful job. It’s challenging and draining too. Working from home can be the answer to different needs: the need to supplement your income, the need for personal development, the need to express creativity, the need to use personal qualities like teaching, writing or speaking, the need of adult interaction, the need of freedom in the long term, etc.

But I haven’t seen very often that Working from Home answers the need to have a more chaotic schedule. Going from “just” (in quotes because is an already very hard work) Stay At Home Mom to a Work at Home Mom is another wonderful, beautiful, challenging and draining experience. It can be overwhelming especially at the beginning when you are learning how to do it.

Network Marketing is the option for many WAHMs but the tips that I’m sharing here apply for any Mom who wants to be a successful Stay at Home Mom working from home.

This is not the ultimate list. My intention is actually to give a starting list you can add to as you learn more about your Industry, your niche, your product, your strategy for building your business, marketing, etc.

1. Be organized: If you were not organized before, this is the time to be! You are a Work at Home Mom but probably your schedule still goes around your children’s. Maybe you are active in other groups too. Don’t leave your business in the back burner if you want it to work. Even if you have to work during the evenings, give it always a priority in your mind. What works for me is to start my day with house chores. When the house is organized is easier to work.

2. Be focused: Work time is work time. I know, we all have interruptions. It’s frustrating when you are about to type a great blog post and little voices start asking you for whatever-it-is-you-don’t-want-to-know-about. And yes, your husband goes in that group too. Try to find a time slot when you can be the Working from Home Mom you can be. If it’s absolutely impossible to eliminate distractions, then have fun with it. What you can do in 20 minutes will be accomplished in one hour and you know what? You have to be proud you did it!

In the second part I’ll give you 3 more ways to be a Successful WAHM.

Stay at Home Moms: How to supplement your income with Network Marketing

For a Stay At Home Mom it can be challenging and risky to start a business. We already have a hectic schedule. We need motivation, drive and persistence. But making money is possible if you know how to use Network Marketing to supplement your income.

An easy way to make money with Network Marketing is to sell your products at retail price. According to your compensation plan you might have 2 or 3 other ways to supplement your income. Maybe you can make money with sales volume or get bonuses for signing new costumers or business partners.

Nevertheless, this is limited. I bet the top leaders in your company have other different streams of income. Many of them offer exclusive training (besides the free one), sell their own CDs and material, have different websites, etc. This is a secret that rarely gets out.

One great way to supplement your income with Network Marketing is using Online Marketing. And this is not a secret anymore. Online MLM offers different ways to monetize your business like Affiliate Marketing and training programs. They don’t have to be affiliated with your business so you can benefit from sales outside your company.

Being a Stay At Home Mom doesn’t mean you can’t supplement your income from home because you don’t have the time. Know where the money is and go for it. And remember, I'm here to help. Leave a comment and I'll contact you.

Ann Sieg's Renegade Network Marketer for MLM moms

There used to be few people who were willing to tell the truth about Network Marketing. It wasn't like most of Network Marketers were dishonest (although some were) but that it was a secret.

Objections like "nobody makes money in Network Marketing", "I don't have enough people to talk to", "I don't have time", etc., weren't address with "yes, and let me tell you why". At least not in the way that Ann Sieg does.

Many moms get into Network Marketing with false expectations. We think we can make the time to do our presentations while raising our children. We hope our list is going to give us all the associates we need to take our businesses off the ground. Not always happens like that.

As if our children weren't motivation enough to be successful, we keep looking for a big enough why. The Renegade Network Marketer along with the Seven Great Lies of Network Marketing explain why some of us didn't have success with traditional methods in Network Marketing and why we can build a successful MLM business online.

Ann Sieg's books and system are some of the best allies we can have in our businesses.

Why Stay At Home Moms can have a successful Network Marketing business

To be successful in Network Marketing you don’t need experience or high education. Anyone can do it. What you need, among other qualities, is to have the will to learn, be persistent, be consistent and work hard. And Stay At Home Moms know how to do that.

We learn something different with every stage of our children’s development. When you think you have figured out your parenting style and disciplinary strategy, along comes another child that tears everything down. And you have to learn again. It happens also when your only child learns new tricks and you have to keep up.

In Network Marketing there are always new things to learn, even when you think you have learned or read enough. Maybe it’s not because they invented a new way to do something, but because you didn’t know anything about it before. When you think you know how to give a presentation, you learn a new strategy that makes so much sense, you have to implement it.

Or a way to prospect, or a marketing strategy that makes things easier or new technology. We have to be willing to learn or we can easily stay behind and not get ahead in the business. We can even lose money if we are not willing to learn.

Network Marketing Moms: What to do during the Holidays?

To work or not to work?

The Holidays are stressful times (in case you didn’t realize). Between finding the perfect gift, attending parties, hosting them!, making a list of people you want to give a present to, sending greeting cards, etc., it’s even more of a challenge to dedicate time to our Network Marketing business.

Some people say that you should stick to a schedule and “show up” for work every day at the same time. I’m more for finding the right time for you. If it happens to be the same hour every day, that’s great. If you still have to play by ear following your children’s schedule, that is great too.

As long as you focus solely on your MLM business when you are working, you can be flexible. You’ll be more productive in 20 minutes of focused work than in 90 minutes of constant interruptions. We moms are wonderful multi taskers (ever nursed while tying shoes?), but again, the more focused you are, the more productive you can be.

That goes for the Holidays too. I’ve reduced my business to-do list to only the very important and the urgent.

Decide what things can’t wait until after the Holidays, which ones you can work on during the madness and which ones can be relegated to the first days of the next year. This is an important time to keep working, but not at our sanity’s expense!

Stay at home mom work

I’ve been reading some articles and blogs about being a stay at home mom. We all agree that is hard work. At the end of the day you are drained, your energy has been taken away and maybe your blood pressure is high from trying to keep everything under control.

But then the rewards don’t have a price. They can be as simple as a hug or smile, or the satisfaction to be the first one who sees your child taking her first step. And, of course, the confidence that gives raising your children with your core moral values.

A stay at home mom works as hard as she can. I know because I’m one, too! But somehow we manage to get around. I’ve said before that we have to be organized to get the most out of our times, and it is a constant learning for me too. Every day brings something new and I’m constantly challenged to accomplish my housework goals as well as my business goals.

What is your main challenge as a stay at home mom?

Network Marketing for moms – 3 reasons to have an MLM business

There are many reasons to start a Network Marketing business. This is an Industry not only for moms but for people from all walks of life, and anyone can beneficiate from its advantages. I’m going to focus only on 3 general reasons that were what made me, as a mom, join an MLM Company.

1. The opportunity to make an income. As a Stay At Home Mom sometimes I would feel like I wanted to contribute by adding income to our finances. Network Marketing offers the average person the opportunity to supplement her income or replace completely her current one.

2. The opportunity to work form home. My center of operations is my home, although I could work from virtually anywhere in the world. It allows me to raise my children and that has no price for me. Network Marketing business can be built through traditional methods (parties, home meetings, etc) or the Internet so you have to find what suits you better.

3. The opportunity to have my own business. I am my own boss. I like the freedom to set my own hours, my own goals, and to work at my own pace. I don’t have to answer to anyone but me. The day I signed up I became the CEO of my own MLM business.

What are your reasons? Why is Network Marketing for moms?

Stay at home mom: work at home and supplement your income

It seems like nowadays we only have bad news about the economy: crisis, downfall, laid off, shipped overseas, cutting jobs, etc. These words flock the news everywhere. More and more people are looking for ways to supplement their income

A stay at home mom knows that staying home doesn’t mean sit around with a cup of coffee in your pajamas watching soup operas. We work as hard as we can, with no payment and no vacations (okay, our payment is the unconditional love of our children but you know what I mean).

The verb “stay” sounds too passive, but if we use the word “work” then the phrase ”stay at home mom” changes completely and has another meaning. It implies that we have an income. I rather say that I am a stay at home mom who works at home. It doesn’t matter what you want to be called, what matters is that you have a clear vision of what you want and the determination to get there.

You can make time to work from home. It can be hard at the beginning because it implies change but you can do it with your good organizational and time management skills. You still can get ahead in this economy. Working from home is becoming a unstoppable force. Take advantage of it.

Network Marketing Moms: building a business and raising a family

Do you find yourself wondering why you didn't do anything today? You did laundry, cooked, vacuumed, organized your mail, paid a couple of bills, took the children to school and picked them up, sent emails, updated your website, etc. But still, you feel like you didn't do as much.

Maybe it has to do with being a Network Marketing Mom. We are building a business and raising a family at the same time and that's not easy task. When you work outside the house is kind of easy to separate work and home because you don't have both in the same square feet surrounding you. But when you move both of them under the same roof then you have some challenges ahead.

Being Network Marketing Moms means that we have to use our organizational skills to accomplish house work and business work. Yes, we can work while the dishwasher is running but only if that task is already out of our minds. When you work on your business, whether its for 15 or 45 minutes, focus only on that. Maybe you make a list of goals you want to accomplish and work for as long as you need to finish. Maybe you can set up a time to do certain activity (i.e. write an article) and stop wherever you are when the time is up. I find this method very efficient for me because it forces me to concentrate extra hard to get more out of my time.

Find what works for you. Can you find a place with absolutely no distractions? Great! Do you have to learn to ignore background noise? You can do it! At the end of the day look at everything you have accomplished. Even if that is only one load of laundry.
