Last week I talked about two experiences that made think about how we work our Internet Network Marketing business. The first one was with a local Chiropractor who gave me a great example of giving before getting.
My second experience was with an Insurance Agent. I was involved in a minor car accident two weeks ago and we had to contact our Insurance. In case you are not familiar with the process (I hope not, for what that means), you have to report the accident within 24 hours and the Insurance should take of the rest.
As I worked with our Insurance Agent, I never felt like the lady who was attending my case was really interested in me. She was very serious and I even had a hard time understanding her because her diction wasn’t very good. English is my second language but I don’t always have this problem. Even after few calls, she didn’t seem to recognize my name. the whole process was cold and distant. I didn’t feel she smiled at all.
That was until I got the call from the other Insurance agent. This representative, a guy, was very polite and nice. It was obvious that he was smiling and he was willing, really, to help. What a difference! He accepted liability (their client was at fault) and walked me through the process of what was next. He took care of me and I was glad I didn’t need to go back to my agent.
This made think about a couple of sure ways to lose costumers: avoid building rapport and have a bad posture when talking on the phone.
My agent wasn’t interested in me personally as she was in doing her work. She didn’t make an effort to know if I was comfortable with her. I didn’t feel a connection. The other agent was more interested in giving me a good service. He made sure I was at ease and even asked me questions about me at the end. It only reinforced my trust in him.
It was obvious that when these Agents were on the phone, they each had a very different posture. Smiling, even on the phone, makes a difference. It goes back to the Communication skills that Tim Sales teaches. Ellie Drake also teaches about the importance of having a good posture and how that can be sensed in a phone call or even a blog post.
I might even consider switching Agents…
What communication skills do you think are more important when talking over the phone? Leave a comment about it.

One sure way to fail in Network Marketing, Part 3
In the first two parts of this series I told you how I was a lead being called by a Network Marketer. This made me think about the times when I called leads and how uncomfortable it can be. Calling cold leads can be one sure way to fail in Network Marketing.
I know that there are people who succeed doing this. I know that saying that this is a sure way to fail in Network Marketing is controversial. But for many Network Marketers it is. It’s not just about a bad script or a bad lead.
It’s the difference between attracting people and chasing them. Cold calling may be your best chance to fail in Network Marketing because you are not attracting these leads to you, you are going after them.
There is an alternative way to build a Network Marketing business besides calling people who don’t want to be called. Some forget that they filled out a form or lose interest in a home business. Some just have no idea they are leads.
Even with great and hot leads you have to go through many until you find a good prospect for you. And if you don’t have good communication skills you are wasting your money anyway. Don’t get me wrong, you do need those skills if you are doing Network Marketing Online too.
The only point I want to make here is that we don’t need to do that! We don’t need to call cold leads. The best leads to call are the ones who have asked us to do so. That usually happens only after they receive value from us, know they can learn from us and want to work with us.
If you are still making those calls and are feeling frustrated about it, it’s time to consider using the Internet to attract prospects and build your Network Marketing business.
One of the best ways to start is with Ann Sieg’s free e-book The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing. Get a copy and learn more about sure ways to fail in Network Marketing.
Then start working on your new online strategy. I’m here to help. We can do it together.

One sure way to fail in Network Marketing, Part 2
In the first part I told you how I was caught off guard when a guy called me to find out if I was interested in his opportunity. If you missed Part 1 here is it again: One sure way to fail in Network Marketing, Part 1
My caller was obviously growing impatient with me and decided to blow me off before I could waste his time. He offered his phone number for me to call him back. I asked him if he knew that that didn’t work and if he really wanted to talk to me he should call me back.
Maybe not the best thing to say. Hey, I said I was practicing my "Keen Insight" skills, not that I had perfected them. Between awkward laughs, he said that he did and that was why he was giving his number because he knew that if I were interested in making money with this great opportunity, I would call him. And I was honest to say that I wasn’t interested.
Even though we were laughing, I could sense that he was irritated and uncomfortable. He was wasting his time with someone who wasn’t going to be a good prospect after all when he could probably be making other more productive calls. Maybe he had a long list of current Network Marketers in other Companies. After all, those are good leads, right?
I was almost embarrassed thinking that I’ve done that before. I never called Network Marketers just because I didn’t get to it. But I have called business owners, Realtors and purchased leads, among others.
People who didn’t know me nor recognize my name. People who didn’t know if I could teach them how to build a business. I had to try to convince them of that during the call with my security, self confidence and unbreakable voice. The problem was, with every failed call it was harder to keep my motivation and posture.
Why cold calling is one sure way to fail in Network Marketing? In the third part of this series you’ll find out. Although I think you already know it.

One sure way to fail in Network Marketing, Part 1
Last week I read with especial interest one of Ann Sieg’s email. She told her subscribers how she witnessed these guys calling friends in their list of prospects. This was while she was working on content online.
The point was that there are still many people out there who don’t know about Internet Network Marketing. Even when we think that we have saturated the market online, we have not!
There are new and seasoned Network Marketers who are still unaware of the power of Internet to build their businesses. There are many Home Business owners who are working on their lists, calling friends, family and cold leads. And failing in Network Marketing.
One of those called me on Friday. It was a bad moment for me to be on the phone. We had just gotten home from school. We had a scary moment when we saw a 3 year old running across the street and his older brother running after him. “We” as in my 7 year old daughter, my 2 year old son and I. Actually, she answered the phone.
Needless to say, I wasn’t the best prospect at the moment. I was caught even more off guard when, after I took the phone, the guy mentioned my MLM Company. It took me a moment to realize that it wasn’t an official call from the Company but someone who was trying to interest me in another opportunity.
He was good at recognizing that it wasn’t a good moment for me and asked me when it was. He didn’t estate his name or the purpose of his call until I asked. Having been in a great call with Ellie Drake (“Developing a keen insight”, thanks to Mike Klingler), I practiced my recently acquired listening skills.
Can you tell what is one sure way to fail in Network Marketing yet?

The best of MLM for moms: There is a better way to build Network Marketing
If you are an MLM mom and are looking for a better way to build Network Marketing, you are not alone. For many people, like me, traditional methods of Network Marketing work only partially. I know there are many leaders who don’t like this because they will tell you to work your numbers and prospect more and more people, to show the plan, to follow up.
But you don’t have to go through the frustration and embarrassment of people avoiding you or being defensive if you bring up “this home business of mine”. If you are ready for a better way to build Network Marketing, get your FREE copy of “The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing” NOW.
Ann Sieg is famous for over delivering and providing massive value in her legendary special reports and this is no different. She writes in a very colloquial way and I promise you will feel identified after few sentences of reading it. It’s so hard to put it down that you might want to skip making dinner. Just don’t forget to pick up your children from school.
In the book you will learn:
-The 7 biggest reasons most network marketers struggle (and ultimately fail) in this industry and why YOU no longer have to worry about them.
-What it really takes to grow a business that grows with or without you (in a comfortable way that fits your unique personality and values)
-Simple things you can do right now to make it easy and enjoyable for your prospects to buy.
And much more!. I’m very excited with everything that Ann Sieg offers now with her book. You’re going to learn some incredible principles that will save you enormous amounts of time, money, and headaches with your MLM business.

MLM tip: “Everyone fails in Network Marketing!”
This is one common objection. Many people are turned off by the words “Network Marketing” because they have come to think that everyone fails. Well, maybe not everyone but a good 97% of Network Marketers.
In a different post I gave 5 reasons why people fail in Network Marketing. I used the word “fail” as in “stopped doing it”. Sometimes this also means “…and lost money”. We all have heard stories of people not making money with an MLM business and ending up with a garage full of products nobody wants.
But what is the definition of “fail”? In Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of “fail” is “to lose strength…to fade or die away… to stop functioning normally… to be unsuccessful… to be deficient”, etc.
It’s genius! When people “fail” or are unsuccessful in Network Marketing is because they lose strength, stop functioning (working) or lack something (time, money, training, etc.) This is a business like any other, and like any other, it can take quite a while to take off.
If most people fail, is there something we can do to beat the odds? This video from Tim Sales gives an answer. The next time you hear or read about this, think about the difference between failing and quitting.

Are you frustrated with Network Marketing?
You know Network Marketing is an opportunity for the average person to build a Residual Income and really help others. And you probably did everything you were told: went to training meetings, used your product and learned about it, drove people to the presentations, invited friends for lunch, etc. And still, the result was little to none success. Now, that is frustrating. And yes, I’ve been there and done that. I’m a frustrated Network Marketer too.
It’s called "Network Marketing" for a reason: you market in your network. You network first, market second, right? Wrong! Marketing has to be at the center of your business. Effective Marketing attracts people to you, instead of you approaching them.
So, where do you find enough people? In the Internet! Prospects come to you because they are looking for what you have and see the value in your information. They are pre-sold.
That is what Ann Sieg proposes in her book The Seven Great Lies of Network Marketing. It’s provocative and sassy. But it also tells it how it is. It’s intended for people who are looking for a more effective way to build a downline. When I read it I not only felt related but understood. I wasn’t so wrong after all! I didn’t need a bigger why after all! The secret is in the Marketing. Attraction Marketing, that is. And this book is a cornerstone in the new era of Network Marketing: Internet Network Marketing
So, if you are a frustrated Network Marketer, you have hope. There is a better way. Grab a copy of the FREE e-book “The Seven Great Lies of Network Marketing” now. Stop your frustration and start the satisfaction of Networking!

Why people fail in Network Marketing? 5 simple reasons
It's known that 97% of people fail in Network Marketing. It's actually one of the main reasons some people use to damage the image of the industry. But we don't deny it. We fight it and try to make it to the 3%. We try to understand the reasons so we don't make the same mistakes everyone else is making. So, why do people fail in Network Marketing and what can we do?
There are many sources that explain the failure in MLM. Ranging from 1 to 10 or more, leaders give reasons that I summarize in five because of their similar nature:
1. Lack of education and training : we could say that everything can be resumed in this one because we should learn the basic principles of the next reasons in this area. It includes the things that we don't understand at the beginning of our careers, like the need to change mentalities (from employee to business owner) and all that comes with that: treating our business like a business, the importance of daily motivation, the need of a marketing plan, the different strategies we can use, etc.
2. Lack of money: Yes, we all want to make money. I bet that's why you signed up, right? (I know I did). Part of that business mentality means that we need a budget, especially for marketing since is the most important activity.
3. Lack of productivity: Some leaders mention activity, but there are many Network Marketers out there filling their days with activity that doesn't make them money. Productivity is what we need to succeed and defeat failure.
4. Lack of realistic expectations: If someone told you this was easy, I'm sorry. It's simple, but it doesn't mean is easy. It takes work and dedication. And even though it IS possible to have immediate success, not many people have the skills to do that. For most of us, simple humans and busy moms, it's going to take effort and patience. And that has to do with understanding exponential growth (as part of the training, reason#1)
5. Lack of marketing: Now this is the big one. Again, we go back to training because we should focus more in learning how to market and more importantly, WHAT to market, since the beginning of our careers. And not only learn but do, so we can really "earn as we learn". Marketing is at the core of our business. Without it, we have nothing. With good marketing tools and system (yes, we still need one) we'll never run out of prospects. Even better, qualified prospects, the ones that actually want to work with us.
